Mario Kart Wii: Rainbow Road lap backwards

This video proves that it is possible to drive a lap backwards in Rainbow Road without using any cheats / hacks / homebrew. Special thanks to AT Gene and AT Samura1 for finding this. Also thanks to FF Spike and FF Forre for helping.

After the "cannon-skip" you cannot fall off or else lakitu drops you back at the cannon (as shown in the video). You need to get hit by a blue shell or a bomb to get on the higher level.

Note: I didn't record a full backward lap, only the tricky parts. Also note that this wasn't done on a single run (you can tell it from the lap number and the times). However, it is possible to do it in a single race. It just requires a lot of luck with items.
