  • My 3 year old son loves this song, we keep playing it again and again. I'm 33 and my wife is 25, we've both still got our childhood gollywogs and I have a gollywog book from the 80's. I just bought my son a little gollywog yesterday in a post office in the eastcoast of Scotland. When he saw it he shouted out gollywog so just had to get it. They removed them from the Robinson's jam jar around 10 years ago. I don't know why they are deemed non PC? Are you from NZ?

  • @landofnor YES , I'm from NZ. Craig

  • I love gollywogs :) I got one when I was 10 and we had so much fun together. He married my Mulan doll and they had a farm together. I'm 18 now and still have him. I might be white but race seemed to have no restrictions on what I thought was a good toy. I can't see why a big smiley doll can be an offence. If that were so, surely weren't all blue eyed, blond haired, white dolls be seen as a negative stereotype? I love my gollywog and I'll call him 'gollywog' because I know it means no harm.

  • @TheThreeWeavers yay !!

  • first of all, it's gollywog, not golly wog. The term wog was not used until just before the second world war and was not aimed at black people, it was aimed at indians { not the north american kind} . Gollywog {one word} was invented in the 1700's and has it's heritage in scandinavian countries. It was never a negative racist term. Secondly, you're not a black people you're a black person. Please don't speak on behalf of all black persons.

  • Tab please?

  • @CelebrateDiversity1 Celebrate diversity? Well it seems that the idea of race mixing is one you look forward to. So what happens to your diversity then? Were you being sarcastic when you said that of course, black people can never be racist? I do hope so, otherwise not only are you talking through your arse but you'd be a prize pillock to boot. And no, I can't be bothered reading or indeed replying to any ramblings you have in defence of such bullshit.

  • You Are My Hero For to Day

    Nice Vid Man.keep going

  • @mdma111

You object to the word 'nigger' yet so many young blacks listen to rap music with that word (and others) in it-which is making fun of white people saying it!?But,of course,in today's UK the Govt says that black people can never be racist (of course!) as they are a minority-yet the Uk is fast becoming a mixed-race nation as lots of white women are very attracted to black men (for lots of reasons!!) Which is very good!!

  • Fantastic song . I use to have a Gollywog toy. and my best friend now dead and gone was a black man. Like the lyrics are saying I never saw it as black or white it was just a toy. Political correctness gone mad. Peace.

  • one day my gollie doll came to life ! it tried to stab and mug me ! then it ran off ,............1 week later i saw it on a street corner selling drugs!,................FUCKING LITTLE GOLLIEWOG DOLL JUST THE SAME AS THE REAL ONES!

  • I love my golliwog doll, I whip it every day then chain it up

That is some bizarre logic dude. Just because the term "gollywog" wasn't originally considered offensive makes it ok to use now? If we apply that logic to the word "nigger" then it too should still be ok to use. It's etymology can be traced back the Latin word for "black". Your argument suggests that because the word "nigger" was "invented" by the ancient Romans and wasn't offensive back then, it should still be ok to use today... Sing a song about that, see how far you get.
