The batch of DAF SB220s introduced by then-TIBS is the second generation. They were fitted with Voith D381.4 three-speed automatic transmission, and uses the Lawo Luminator Europa (now LAWO) dot-matrix EDS. Bodied by Walter Alexander under the Setanta make, they were arguably the worst-looking buses of the entire fleet.
TIBS initially used these buses as replacement spares, but under SMRT Buses they have been confined to suburban routes. In the recent years, interesting refittings have been made for some of these buses., such as this one.
In this journey, it makes the long-distance leg from Bukit Timah to Toa Payoh via the Pan-Island Expressway. As there was a heavy thunderstorm, traffic has slowed to a crawl during the early part of this recorded journey.
