Mixing Samba Drums Bhangra & Bagpipes from Samba Agogo

Here is a short clip of samba band SAMBA AGOGO mixing samba drums or the batteria with traditional Bhangra rhythms and throw in some bagpipes into the mix as well!

@happygino Long dead argument I know, but as I came across it again, the Samba Agogo web page has now been updated. The old one... can't remember exactly what it said, but IIR it was something along the lines of the videos being of Samba Agogo original arrangements.. I did not want to stop anyone playing it.. just a little pissed off about that comment at the time. I taught the arrangement to Repercussions back in about 2000. Originally arranged for Baixa (Malvern samba) about 2 years earlier.

It's Gino here from Samba Agogo who posted the original video even though I now reside in Sydney and play with other bands.

First of all no-one from the band has or ever stated it's our original piece how can we when Zoe first played it when she played with Repercussion Street Band?

I would love to see this website you are talking about as it has never existed and we would never pass it off as a 'Samba Agogo Original' as clearly it's not!

there is nothing original in this, it is generic samba reggae, if someone hasnt played something exactly the same somewhere long ago I would be very surprised. It is just a basic rhythm, no melody, no tune and no vocals. The bloke who first started tapping on a log ,millions of year ago would turn in his grave at your claims.

By the way I have no connection to any of this arguement I just cant see what the problem is.

Point is - it's NOT yours in any way or form. You are not in a position to claim any creative rights (or grant permission for others to use it). You just think you have this right - which is why you get upset when you hear others play or claim it. I'd like to see you actually try to claim copyright for any of this. You wouldn't get very far at all AND you know it.

On the band's website there is a claim that this is their original piece, so as a matter of fact (to paraphrase you) it's all them, them ,them...and THAT was the point. If I wanted to claim creative rights over it, I am in a position to do so, but I don't. I suggest you go back to playing with your neopets or something like that which might be more on your intellectual level.

This particular (fairly simple) arrangement may be something you put in 'order' - but it's not YOURS. If it was you'd have some right/control over it - but you don't! Get it? I am merely reacting to your claims of ownership - Thus far you've said...

You don't HAVE to credit me with it...or haven't you been reading. As for where I got it from..again, you seem a little hard of understanding..the arrangement is mine.The breaks are my own devising, but the rhythm is clearly bhangra inspired.

And I've been doing this since the 1980's..I doubt you have much to offer me concerning "shock, horror",what this music is about.

Because I think you're an obnoxious and dishonest person, when did you see my band? What was it called?
