The pictures are curtesy of my sister, who took them with her awesome camera. The names of the animals appear after their pictures.
Today my mom let me skip school so that I could go help out at the SPCA in St. Stephen. She and my sister volunteer there every Wednesday and they clean out cages, play with the animals and feed them. Anyway, I could not believe how well tempered all the animals were. Not a single one tried to attack me or hiss or bite, they all just wanted to be loved and it was so heartwarming and sad at the same time.

Please, always adopt animals from shelters. If you buy from Pet stores you are supporting puppy mills and you are bound to get a dog with diseases and behavioral problems. These animals need your help guys!
Marlee and Barny have been adopted :D So thats great news!

If anyone in the Charlotte County Area is interested in adopting a pet please visit the SPCA in St.Stephen, they have wonderful pets for adoption with great personalities and loving hearts.

Just as a note, these are only a few of the animals in the shelter. There were many other pets up for adoption. One of my favorites was a young cat named Clarice. She is so small and so young and yet she has already given birth to a litter of kittens. She's so young that she would push her kittens away so that she could play with my shoelaces as well. Her kittens are so sweet and one of them,Frederic, was mewing at me to scratch him and let him play with my shoelaces. Then theres Blacky, a black lab who is such a sweetheart. He gets along so well with cats and was nose to nose with Clarice and her kittens and was so even tempered I couldn't believe it. He buried and rubbed his head in my hands just like a cat. Then theres Ronald, he is just like my cat,Stitch. Ronald likes to wrap his arms around your neck and then lick all over your neck.

Little Mama had a litter of 2 kittens and they both died unfortunately :(
Big Mama had 2 as well and they survived. She is so beautiful and calm and has got the most amazing eyes and she is such a great mom.
Then there was a cat that looked so mean and volatile who's ears had rotted off at the tips because he had been filthy in the street. I reached in to take him out of his cage so my sister could clean it and he came right into my arms without a complaint.
Words cannot express how much I love these animals after only one day with them.Think of the love that you can feel after adopting one! I hope you all go out and volunteer at a shelter because even though its sad to see them in cages, the feeling you get when you get the cage all cleaned and when a cat is in your arms purring or a dog is licking your hand makes up for all of that. They love you and they know you're trying to help them and their faith in you is so staggering. Today was one of my happiest days because I felt so good after I was done at the shelter.
