luiggy, while it is certainly possible to twist bars cold, it is not possible to make tight double twists in cold 3/4" bars. you can only make long, shallow twists in cold bars; it looks very different from hot work. it is not a question of how powerful or clever the machine you happen to be using, but rathe a question of what metal can do at a given temperature.

why are you twisting it on hot? I'm making this without gas. It's qicker and cheaper... nice movie:)

first smooth job :) and your spot on, looks better your way, and cheaper most of the time shows less pride in the product. & nice shop & they lucky to have you.

have the same machine but if you drag both ends to lets say to get 5 inch twist in the middle .you dont have to heat it..i do it cold

@alexohrid true, you can twist cold. but then you can't do real tight twists or a double twist, which i find particularly pleasing. somehow, i cold twists always look like what they are.

I wondered how it was done: Thanks for sharing this:-)

you are welcome. actually, a lot of the twisting is done by hand, as it is a once-off affair; really heavy bars are also twisted by had using a 7-foot long double-handled wrench. the machine in the video is for making lots of identical bars, usually for a railing.
