Part 2 of the tutorial!

I find editing in Kino counterintuitive compared to Cinelerra, but that aside, it's really pretty simple. I know... the end of the project is a barn door wipe instead of a fade to black. I apologize... let it be a cautionary tale to always watch the whole project before committing! All I can say in my defense is:
Migraine = SUCK
Migraine meds = WOOHOO!!!

Hopefully, this will let someone having problems get the ball rolling! Like I said, I'm still tweaking things, so let me know if you have any feedback on how to make the tutorials easier. For instance, I think I'm going to add a zoom feature for the next one so I can call attention to points of interest better. Don't forget to click on the HIGH QUALITY version!

And yes... 2 years old, almost 3 and having his first coffee. In our defense, it was way watered down and we were POSITIVE he'd hate it once he had some. Should have known...

  • thx your handy for occasional help!

  • Yep, that should do it! When Cinelerra sees the .xml project file it will load whatever is scripted in it instead of loading it into your resources window.

  • lol i got the save it bit it's the opening i'm having trouble with lol! so i go to load files -> select the file (as if i was importing a new clip) right?

  • OH! And of course, to save it just click File - Save. Here you name the initial project file *.xml. Then to save any time after that with it open, just File - Save again.

  • i think i understand that... this will be interesting lol. (goes and sees if i understand it...)

  • Can do... it's saved when you save the XML project file. To load it, you do like you normally do to load files, only when you chose the XML file, Cinelerra knows to load the indexes and project files rather than pop it in the media on its own. Or if you're talking partial renders, when you render them, just add them to the media in the project by selecting the "Create New Resource" option instead of "insert nothing" when you render.

  • got a new chellange for you. how do i save and open files in cinelerra (like if i'm only half finished the movie sort of thing)

  • If you're staying in DV, the only thing that comes to the top of my mind is select the entire project, go to the audio tab, and drag the audio level all the way down on both ends. Haven't checked the render option, but I seem to remember a couple of video only options under MPG export. Then again, I'm getting confused of late! LOL
