Hunter started every game in '72, but he was removed from this game in favor of his backup, Jerry Tagge. Here's the explanation from The Sporting News: "Scott Hunter was 2-for-5 and minus 5 yards and was taken out by Coach Dan Devine, who called on Jerry Tagge. ...Devine said, 'the coaching staff thought we'd have a better chance of winning if we made a change.' He said he had no intention of putting Hunter, who had a key pass hijacked by Pat Fischer, back in the game 'unless Tagge got hurt.'"

Speaking of the monkey controversy.....on a later MNF Don Meredith chided Cosell by saying 'you old gorilla you'. Would love to see that one posted.

@HaywoodZarathustra. My favorite was the professional female of that time concerning the ads who were doctors, secretaries, tellers, and so on. Some would wear glasses or not but they were so adorable.
