LYRICS: Trains and boats and planes
Are passing by,
They mean a trip
To Paris or Rome
For someone else
But not for me
The trains and the boats and planes
Took you away, away from me.

We were so in love,
And high above
We had a star
To wish upon, wish
And dreams come true,
But not for me
The trains and the boats and planes
Took you away, away from me.

You are from another part of the world
You had to go back home, but then
You said you would return again
I waited here like I promised to
I am waiting here but where are you

Trains and boats and planes
Took you away,
But every time I see them I pray
And if my pray
Can cross the sea,
The trains and the boats and planes
Will bring you back,
Back home to me...

uouuuuuuuu
mmmmmmhmmmmhmhhmmhmhmmm

The trains and the boats and planes
Will bring you back,
Back home to me..

  • I've never hard this version Ron . I think the intro is kinda neat . I can't remember who sings the other version but I do like it better. Sounds like a great album though . :o)

  • @KCKILLERCAT- thanks Sharon!

  • Incredibly long intro. Not the best moment for the Boxtops.

  • @ChowHallCommando- you're right it is a long intro.

  • I agree that the intro is long. Nearly all the artists that recorded this song had long intros, except for one who wrote the original score .. Burt Bacharach.

  • @spacepatrolman- you're probably right!

  • @jollyjohnbull- you're very welcome!

  • @jollyjohnbull bacharach didnt seem to mind everybody in the world doing his songs he gets money for that

  • Remember this being a big hit for Billy J Kramer, but never heard it by the Box Tops, its a great number and they do it well, thanks for posting, good to hear versions you havent heard before.

  • @ChowHallCommando

    I agree :)
