This video demonstrates the use and convenience of the Better Place solution through a day in the life of an EV driver. The video features battery switch, charging at home and work, in-car services (charge levels, remaining miles/kilometers, navigation, location of charge spots and battery switch stations), smart phone integration, and how all of the components interact to provide a comprehensive electric vehicle services solution. The end result is that the Better Place driver has unlimited range and a state-of-the-art driving experience while having minimal impact on the electric grid. • Haha they built my shark car :') Guess ill stick to solar

  • @7eardstapa7 Yep, change is hard for all of us. I have my concerns about the Better Place model too (mostly financial), but I think technically it seems like a great idea. Seems like the only practical way to make zero tailpipe emission taxi cabs. Anyway, nice to see a different approach to the problem.

  • @JohnCBriggs Ha ha! Nicely put. Detractors always come up with ludicrous scenarios to make things seem unreasonable, while conveniently forgetting that it applies to their own way of thinking too... too funny. :-)

  • @chrisbradley09 It's just a new way of thinking. What if you had to drive to a gas station once a week to refuel your cell phone instead of just plugging it in every time you were near an outlet. It's no less convenient. It takes an extra 3-4 seconds every time he gets in or out of the car.

  • @chrisbradley09

Is plugging in really such a hassle?

  • He seemed to spend way too much time charging up the car. If one charge lasted 1 -3 days, depending on milage, then it would be a great idea. This just looks like its a long way from being a practical alternative to gasoline.

  • @alfonrock What if I forget my credit card for my gasoline powered car? I will be stuck and unable to get home. What if some kid siphons the gasoline out of my car just for kicks? This whole gasoline powered thing is a bad idea and will never work.

  • Guy drives around in a car with a European license plate in American town.

  • pruis interior

  • needs a bit more practical thought in it.

  • Forget the stupid kids, I know tons of dogs that chew on cords. Requiring a card for battery changes... that's actually a good idea IF you needed it to start the car as well like an ignition key.

  • Ok, so what if some stupid kid in the street unplugs or cuts the cord for fun?? your stranded there...

what if you loose that BP card? your stranded unable to change your battery...

I think these both require a lot of thought, you should implemente wireless charging, and password based identity when rechanging the battery. Nothing good comes out of having a cord to recharge, i wouldnt be carefree with that, no way.

  • Great idea, you went ahead and implemented it, but physically plugging the cord??

  • Can't wait for this to come to Canada!
