  • Great promo.. but did it air in 2005 or 2006.. TV didn't turn 50 until 2006.

  • This recording was taken in September 2005, in lead up to the 50 years of television in 2006.

  • Yes, regional Queensland is well served by WIN & Seven Qld. I heard that Mackay is getting their own WIN News soon??

As for Canberra, I believe that ABC1 has more than made up for Southern Cross's disastrous decision to axe their top rating news there. Those rip 'n read "updates" are an insult to their viewers!

Unlike Prime & Southern Cross, at least Seven, Nine (Darwin), WIN & NBN are consistent with their local news commitments. Don't get me started on Nine-Imparja -YouTube doesn't allow

  • I could almost see "protests" in 2009. Imagine the staff coming out from Capital in Canberra, which lost their local news in 2001 (replaced with news updates) to ask for their local 5pm news back.. Aggregation had a major side effect, local news just became too expensive to produce for stations other than WIN, NBN and 7's regional O&O in Queensland. Thats why 7Qld became the biggest success out of Queensland aggregation, building on the past (7 in the mid 80s ruled Qld) for a bright new future.

  • Yes, I forgot Coast To Coast went into WIN NSW's aggregation year (good point).

Another good point about aggregations' twentieth anniversary! Yet, I'd imagine that the regional networks would celebrate that like aboriginal activists 'celebrate' Australia/Invasion Day. :P

As you know, most regional stations were pretty happy with their monopoly arrangements before the Hawke Government busted their party. Even though WIN wouldn't be half as mammoth as they are now because of Hawke's policy.

  • I believe Coast to Coast's 1988 season did indeed air on Win (as well as some Nine programs) in the leadup to aggregation. But I wonder... if Southern Cross, Win or Prime will celebrate (if at all) the twentieth birthday of the first stage of aggregation next year...

  • I was wondering if someone was going to upload this! I only saw it once or twice, I was over in Bathurst at the time.

  • I can see a couple of shows that wouldn't have aired on WIN4, Woolongong, like; In Melbourne Tonight, or Coast To Coast (think they got Blankety Blanks though).

But mostly, this edited Nine Network promo is spot on because they only included THE most popular shows Nine had over the years (regionals would have shown them).
