  • It's not a medley. It's one song: Mighty Love

  • You are right. Thanks for correcting me.

  • As much as we ALL LOVE Phillipe, I couldn't imagine a better replacement than John

  • I am one of the few who think the Spinners are better than the Temps, Tops, and the O'Jays

  • Beautiful music, period.

  • The voices of blacks are the best.

  • i guess Berry Gordy felt at the time he had too many male group acts.....when success finally hit them, these men were in their mid thirties....the youngest member was Philippe

  • He a church Man. No doubt. Good, but not as good as Phillipe' Wynn, the original. But i'm glad they chose the new guy. He's good.

That's the truth my friend and yes, in the end we are die hard Spinners fan and just like the group, I wish you health and strength! You take care and remember this is a timeless thing and moment in time that we are priviledged to be a part of!

    PEACE

  • @DaninJonesboro John was no slouch--he brought a different sound to the group that I really liked, but he was no Phillipe. They had two hits without Phillipe (of course PW had no solo hits). They did sound good with John, but no one will tell you they were just as good without PW. I totally agree with you in that is a foolish comment to say that they were a cover band without PW. Either way, sounds like we're both big fans so I'm just going to sit back and enjoy my favorite group!

Edwards and yes he is alive but suffering from a stroke.

While you do bring up some valid points the man singing this lead John was no slouch by any stretch of the imagination, the spinners knew exactly what they were doing when they selected John to replace Phillipe. It was no mistake that they kept right on rolling and soounding just as good with John, I'm sure that Phillipe must have know that he made a mistake leaving the group. I was only saying to call them a cover band when they still had Bobbie Smith was very insulting in my view.

  • @DaninJonesboro They weren't a cover band without Philipe, but they were certainly not nearly as good without him. They only had 2 top hits "Working My Way Back to You Girl" and "Cupid" after he left--nothing else. Philippe's solo career was not very good. He should've stayed with the group. He didn't make the group, but he helped take them to heights they had never seen. Damm mad he left though, Philippe and Bobbie Smith were the best lead duo ever alongside of Ruffin and Kendricks.

  • I dont know how someone can call the Spinners a cover band without Phillipe Wynne, he wasnt even a founding member of the group. Of course there was never anyone who could ad lib like he did but they had a string of hits without him, his solo career also failed, so who made who? I love all the brothers of this mighty group and John was Sam cooke reincarnated all day long and he's still alive just in bad health.
