I wrote this song a few years ago whilst visiting Ireland. I had the tune and the words going around my head whilst driving around Blessington, and then right across Ireland, through Athlone, Holy Cross, Killarney, Bantry, Kilkenny, Enniscorthy, and back up to Avoca.
I remember playing it at Glendalough, and little known to me I had an audience of one - a lady in a wheelchair had quietly come up behind me. I fell in love with the people of Ireland. Their sense of honesty, warmth and homeliness is hard to find these days.
This song was written in DADGAD tuning, to give it more of an airy celtic feel.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Ireland, and would absolutely love to take my music back there again...anyone interested? :-)
Hi Mark,
I always wonder where the inspiration and creativity comes from for writing songs and music.
From what you say it seems that you are in tune with a special radio station frequency.
You take your life experiences and re-create them in song for us all.
Best to u ! :)
