"In water lives the fish, the plant in the ground,
The bird in the sky, the sun in the firmament,
The salamander must with the fire be sustained,
And God's Heart is Jacob Boehme's element".

~Angelus Silesius

Boehme stressed the value of individual religious experience in his teachings.

"As the many kinds of flowers grow in the earth near each other, and none contends with the other about color, smell, or taste, but they let the earth and the sun, rain and wind, heat and cold, do what they will with them, while they grow each according to its own nature, so it is with the children of God."

  • @MultiFreeatLast What does a Claifornian men's club have to do with Boehme? Boehme wrote extensively on the incarnation of the word in christ, the real presence in the eucharist, etc. Hoe can you call a man who wrote 'Christosophia, oder der Weg zu Christo' a non-christian? Unless ofource you're a theologian dogmatically deciding what is and isn't 'true' christianity. As a historian I am not bothered by such concerns. To me Boehme is simply part of the emerging german protestantism.

  • @MultiFreeatLast If you wish to have a reply, perhaps you should stop serial-posting and write a bit more coherently so I actually have a clue as what to react to? I would be happy to discuss Boehme, gnosticism or anything related to wetsern esotericism but one at a time please.

  • @MultiFreeatLast It seems you have a rather narrow understanding of what christianity is and was. Theosophists ranging from Heinrich Khunrath to Jean Leade have considered themselves firmly within the christian tradition. If anything, they considered theosophy to contain the true mysteries of christianity. This should be seen as a form of religious pluralism within christianity rather then some deviation from a rigidly defined ; crhsitianity'.

  • @MultiFreeatLast First of all, Boehme was certainly no alchemist, although he did adopt alchemical terminology. Yet what he expresses with this terminology has little to do with alchemy as it was understood in his time. Second, Jacob Boehme was definitely a christian (or at least considered himself one) and I assume he would've been quite offended at the notion that he wasn't. Christianity in the 16th/17th centuries is simply a much more pluriform phenomenon then many people realise.

  • has AS written the following verses:

    "taedium vitae et amor scribendi

sunt non plus ultra mei modi vivendi"?
