VW Dark Side: Stormtroopers invade London

On 28 June 2011, Greenpeace launched its campaign to turn VW away from the Dark Side. Volkswagen UK is threatening Earth by refusing to back critical laws we need to save our planet.

Giant banners were dropped in the Old Street area of London and stormtroopers took to the streets to monitor passers-by.

BTW I actually kinda like those banners. VWs have been used as bad guy cars in a couple movies (Eagle Eye), and it really shows off the subtle yet tasteful styling and the imperiously classy design of the VWs.

@gunzip0 But a problem. That's like 6% of the Passat or Polo production line. Why do you think it's sold for much more as the same as a base Polo or Passat. What these eejits are ranting about is that the majority of every VW model are emitting more CO2 than advertised and that VW is lobbying the EU and German GOVT to oppose planned CO2 cuts. (eg) cut CO2 emissions by 30% by 2016, that's what VW is trying to avoid but at the same time advertising itself as the most green (or blue) car maker.

sure greenpeace... but still letting ford / chevy and other american car manufacturers build cars with v8 engines that get 10 mgs. thats how american cars get built: they just need power... you are ridicolous. you country sucks at saving the environment, especially your car manufacturers. vw builds some of the worlds most fuel efficient engines and youre still mad at them...

So - To summarize

GreenPeace dressed up like a bunch of Stormtroopers and launched a smear campaign (to which VW did not sue them for) and accused the company, which produces one of the safest AND most fuel efficient non-hybrids out there, catering to both American and European consumers, and "They are the Darkside"

Oh, and the campaign probably rose VW stock prices by like 10 percent. due to awesome.

Am I the only one seeing the irony in this?
