SG-1 must return to Cimmeria in order to help fight off a Goa'uld invasion while searching for a mysterious hall put there by the Asgard Thor.

Yes. The Asgard were allys with the Ancients, the wraith are part ancient and they all have similar technology. The asgard use the device either to move people, or stop them from existing, objects included, the wraith use it to store humans, and the ancients use it to move entire areas through the stargate (later in SG1)
