A pumpjack turned into folk art, boy catching a fish. This is a very old stipper well, which produces small amounts of oil. Oil was discovered in Luling Texas in 1922, and small oil wells are scattered all around town, next to homes. The folksy pumpjacks owned by this small operator are mostly nice and clean. Some around Luling Texas really need some cleaning up. as seen here: http://youtu.be/wkH7CUfGOSc Small wells as the one in that link pollute area creeks and groundwater, as the Texas Railroad Commission, the agency responsible for regulating oil and gas in the state, turn a blind eye to the Luling environmental disaster. In addition to surface damage from oil well runoff, holes in casing (pipe that lines the well), means that sour gas and oil are entering fresh water aquifers.
