Back in 2000, my father and I installed two Hampton Bay Minuets (32") in my parents' kitchen. They came with a choice of two different lengths of downrod, or they could have been installed without the downrod at all (like yours). We installed our's with the shorter downrod, and also with the lightkit that was included (which was a "mushroom"-shaped globe). These fans are PERFECT for the narrow, rectangular kitchen at my parents' house. The original fans were great, but way too big for the room.
