Can o Gymru = A song from Wales

We'll gather lilacs in the spring again
And walk together down an English lane
Until our hearts have learned to sing again
When you come home once more

And in the evening by the firelight's glow
You'll hold me close and never let me go
Your eyes will tell me all I need to know
When you come home once more

We'll gather lilacs in the spring again
And walk together down an English lane
Until our hearts have learned to sing again
When you come home once more

And in the evening by the firelight's glow
You'll hold me tight and never let me go
Your eyes will tell me all I want to know
When you come home once more

When you come home once more
When you come home once more

  • Les Dawson sang better than this. And Spike Jones.

  • What a totally irrelevant remark.

  • love cerys

  • This shows that good song can stand any treatment!

  • I don't understand. Cerys Matthews has a genuinely good voice. Did she do this deliberately so bad?

  • this is horrid! this is a beautiful song about a young women mourning her lover who has died at war and she is thinking about all the things that they promised each other about when he gets back but will now never happen!! talk about ripping something beautiful apart!!!!

  • Why have SOME Welsh singers recorded JERUSALEM??? The English consider it a "frightengly beautiful English song". It ISN'T!! It's from the English COLONY of Cornwall. You see, Jesus never, ever set foot on English soil - England did not even exist then. Jesus visited his mother's home country of CORNWALL. Just thought you'd all like to know a bit of accurate history. HOME RULE FOR CORNWALL.

  • This is a great song and this is a good different version of it,Cerys is a very under rated singer, play it a few times,it will grow on you.

  • OMG ,this is awful !! What ever next, the sex pistols doing this, even they could do it more justice, bring back Johnny Rotten . Reminds me of a record in the mid 80s recorded in a holiday camp called.... ''Stars on 45 pints'' even they were a different class to this abomination ,as they used to say ....Kindly leave the Stage !!

  • Cerys Matthews, Sorry! but you cannot sing this "beautiful Music" you do not have any understanding of this music.... You may be a good singer for certain types of music ... but my dear not for this.. suggest you listen to the version "sang by Marion Grimaldi.... and others artist"

  • i think this is mindblowingly fantastic..love it to bitz

  • omg, she has MURDERED this song
