Nothing special, just taking a break from my "serious" video making. LOL My daughters had half a day of school yesterday and it was a beautiful day. . . too nice out to be inside. So, we got in a little bit of pony riding. I did manage to do something productive -- trimmed a rose bush up, turned over the soil in one of the garden beds, and worked a bit in the chicken yard spreading out the litter I'd forked out over the winter. Gotta enjoy these kinds of days because soon, it will be a lot of work getting the gardens worked up and planted, cleaning up the barn, paddock, and animal pens, working on the never-ending list of projects that need to be done, and all the rest that accompanies Spring on a small holding.

  • @HaystackGirl37 -- Thank you, I love 'em too. : ) I am hoping this summer I'll actually find time to ride again on a regular basis. It's been too long.

  • i love your videos . cheers from australia .

  • @planes100 -- Thank you. very much. It must be strange to watch these "northern" videos with everyone talking about "Spring" while you're getting ready for your winter down there.

  • nice video again!!!

  • When I was a kid my pony would give my a slow ride out and a (very) fast ride back to his friends. It's good to see that snow melting. I love winter-up to about the end of Feb. Then I start looking for signs of spring. Thanks for taking us with you on your break. Work will always be there but time with little ones is too precious to waste.

  • NIIIIIIIIIIIIIICE!

    niiiiiiiice....

We love you here in MN

  • Ohhhhhhh, you made me miss my horses sooooooooo much! I have never seen a saddle like that. Looks very comfortable for horse and rider. Couldn't make out what you were saying re:teaching them to stop/halt.

did you say 'exhale'? cool. I used the half-halt in varying degrees to either prep for transitions or full halt. My son's reining horse

used the loose reign slid up the mane to lock

and slid.Taught my horses and students

emergency dismount. Horses auto stopped if rider slipped.

  • Thanks for the info on the Iceland Horses Renee. I'll keep that in mind for when I move to "greener pastures". :)

  • They are really nice. I have always been afraid of horses. Got into an accident with a pony, and a selkay that flipped when i was a teenager. Also I was bit by a big horse that a neigbour had, bit me right in the bum. I never really went near horses after that, Always thought they were kinda mean to me. Yours seem really nice to people. Thanks for the video. I am surprised to hear they live so long.
