Thanks, min vän, and no intent on my part to quarrel over taste. To my ears she sounds somber and reserved, more in keeping with the song even than Anna-Lena (and I love A.-L.s version). “Lyckliga Gatan” is something of a lament, after all.

Cajsa-Stina’s voice isn’t very strong, but many pop singers have limited voices and hide behind loud instruments. Instrumental part here is very modest, and it all sounds almost like a classical “lied” and a piano. I think it is very nice.

  • I think the original music and lyrics are by Adriano Celentano ("Ragazzo della via Gluck").

Anyway, "uselt" is a bit categorical. Better perhaps: different style for different times. This song has also been sung by Francoise Hardy, and of course by Anna-Lena, beautifully and a bit differently by each. Personally, I like the Swedish lyrics better than the Italian or English ones, and Cajsa-Stina's interpretation goes well with the tone of the Swedish lyrics. Wouldn't you agree?

  • Uselt. Lyssna på originalet "Tar and Cement" med Verdelle Smith. Finns på tuben.

  • Väldigt medioker sångerska.

  • Skulle kunna handla om Götgatan...

  • The American singer Verdelle Smith's rendition of this beautiful song is "Tar and Cement" from 1966 and is also very heartfelt. Thank you for posting.

  • I have known this song since Anna-Lena Lövgren sang it in the 60s, and I like the more somber interpretation by CajsaStina Åkerström. The song may have been light environmental nostalgia then, but its verses sound like the Earth's weheklag today:

"... när jag kom åter var allt så förändrat,

trampat och skövlat, fördärvat och skändat."

In any case, I am glad to hear "Lyckliga Gatan" live on through new voices. Thanks, CajsaStina.

  • Ramlat hit igen,skönt.

  • Spelar det någon roll egentligen...njut av sången
