This is pretty interesting. ALl these Korean store owners served a market that was underserved... basically everyone else in nyc didn't want to open up stores in black neighborhoods bc they didn't want to sell to blacks. Koreans risked opening up stores and even to this day Korean grocers are the only vendors who sell fruit and vegetables in a lot of poor nyc neighborhoods. The kicker is that these vendors made a lot of money, sent their kids to college and moved out to LI, NJ and elsewhere.

this is the same story over and over again in the US. The bluebloods said same thing about italians and irish, the irish and italians said same things to each other, then the hispanics and italians/irish and then the puertoricans to dominicans and blacks got it from everybody and koreans and indians and so on and so on. zzzz... welcome to America.

I'm not surprised this film caused so much controversy when it was released in cinemas. Look how much controversy it's caused on one message board!
I've not seen the entire film, only parts on youtube, but those i've seen are exciting and tense to watch. You can almost feel the sweat of the heatwave.
I don'tt know much about Spike Lee, but at least someone had the courage to acknowledge the racism rife in the US. The UK could do with a "Do The Right Thing"

Dude.. why get pissed off at Spike Lee? He is showing something that is real and in this movie he actually shows how insane racism is. He is actually criticizing it.
