From Jeff in West Virginia: "I am a proud coal miner in West Virginia. The money I make doing this not only supports my family, but my hard earned coal mining pay also helps to keep businesses in my hometown, and in my area going. I am only a drop in the bucket in this instance, as there are whole communities, towns, and even counties here in West Virginia that have a great percentage of coal miners. Without these coal miners working, not only will this affect the unemployment rate, but the businesses in those communities will suffer greatly because of the loss of coal miners' money. West Virginia isn't exactly plentiful in the job market. As a matter of fact, until I started mining 4 years ago, I have had to work in other states my entire adult life to support my family. West Virginia is home, it's where I want to stay. It's where I want to work, and the main occupation in West Virginia is within the coal industry. If we let certain people make the decision on this for us, and allow such taxes on coal burning plants that burn our coal, we will have no one to sell our coal to, thus putting us out of work. I want to do what I can to support coal mining."
I'm a West Virginia coal miner. I damn proud of what I do, and people in the country need to wake up!!! We need coal and without it this nation will not make it. Pray for all coal miners across this nation and stand firm in your beliefs men!!!!!!!!!!
