@ElementoVolatile whatever happens happens

@runningcockroach i was thinking something more. Like 10 manned with 2 drone wingmen each.
-
@ElementoVolatile ya thats pretty much what i was sayin, 1 jet, a drone army, only 1 real target per squadron.
-
@captaindaniel5294 a drone can be hacked no easier than a modern jet, which is computer operated 99%
-
@runningcockroach I think instead that a mixed force is the future. Manned Fighters able to give orders to drones via data-link. The pilot flies with Air-to-Air loadout, so he can ensure air superiority for the drones, that would perform ground attack.

@priyonjoni jedi mind tricks dont work on me. thats them
-
@runningcockroach these' aren't the droids your looking for
-
@themangix357 does ass ramming your father count as being a faggot?
-
@runningcockroach Computerized aircraft can just as easily be hacked (like a certain U.S. drone) and stolen, also unmanned aircraft are an easy target for a SAM, AAA, or a manned fighter. plus, UAV's are more expensive than manned fighters. and UAV's like the MQ-9, X-47B, and the global hawk are just as large as fighters so they don't save space. and because they are so complex they cannot deploy in large amounts.

one word: EPIC.
who cares. human pilots are a thing of the past.

@runningcockroach
What makes you say that??

@andygibson127
drones and self driving / aiming tanks are just the icing on the cake.
u wait, carriers will favor hundreds of these light weight, pilot less machines VS the heavy bulky and SLOW to launch human jets.
i give it 10- 15 years tops before modernization takes over the human combat pilot.

@runningcockroach
None of them are autonomous. They ALL have pilots or human control as per Geneva Convention. A human must be accountable for any mistakes made on the battlefiled so there must always be a pilot or a human behind the controls. And 10-15 years for humans to be replaced? Humans were effectivley replaced from airliners 10-15 years ago but they are still there. Because computers simply aren't that smart. They lack instinct and situational awareness that humans possess.

@andygibson127
but in general im on the same page as you. i know theyre not autonomous and humans will probably never give full control to a robot weapon, out of our natural fear and ego. In 15 years war machines will be able to be "terminator" esque, judge pretty much any factor available in the physical universe and make a judgement call with whatever mechanical functions it can utilize, like us.
point is drone planes save room, money, can deploy in mass, and no pilot has to die

@runningcockroach
I think 10-15 years is a little optimistic for all this. Computer AI simply hasn't advanced as quickly as many people thought it would and is maybe more like 30-40 years before you see a UCAV that is manned only by a computer with no human interface. Current UCAV's are being designed with a degree of autonomy but only in the flight phase which is nothing new, it will still remain that the actual decision to release a weapon will be made by a human.
