NOTE: Yes, the song really is by Evanescence. It has just been altered to sound like a child singing.

The following is a tribute to the late child actress Heather O'Rourke, most famous for her portrayal as Carol Anne in the Poltergeist films. She sadly died of a bowel obstruction in February of 1988. She was only 12 years old at the time.

As a fan of hers when I was growing up, I was shattered to learn about the little girl who played Carol Anne dying. For a while I've been wanting to make a tribute video to her and I finally was able to a few months back.

Unlike most of the tributes out there, I decided to give this one a theme to it. Most of the tributes made for her are just zoom in's and out's of pictures from when she was growing up. While I'm not criticizing those videos, they all just seem so bland or empty. I felt it was only right to deliver a tribute video that really gave a more personal touch to her passing.

Anyway, enough of my ramblings.
Enjoy the video!

  • However - I really like that you're more critical - so am I:). I've got similar feelings for some videos. I would like to see your comment on my "Our Farewell" tribute for Heather. I would be very very thankful. Regards.

  • I'll take a look at it and thanks for the comments. But do believe me this thing was very well planned out ahead of time before I took the project on. It had been in my head for over a year alone before I made it.

By the way, what do you mean by the zoom in bit at parts? I never used a zoom in feature.

  • Changing sound of the song was interesting idea, but this also made song so short...Along with also short clips, which sometimes seems just meaningless and accidental to me - it makes video a bit messy and zoom in some parts.

  • Shortening the song was a sacrifice I was willing to make. Whenever I listen to the song these days in the original format, it sounds so slow to me and I can't even envision any Heather imagery with it. In this version, I do. Plus, the clips might seem meaningless at points, but believe me, each clip was chosen for a reason whether it be literal to the lyrics, go with the beat, a visual cue that fit the song, or all.

  • Not bad, some clips go really well with sound of the music (because lyrics are obviously not related to Heather), but I usually don't like tributes in which only clips from Poltergeist appear, and if they show rather casual actings like for example - eating. But comparing this video to other on youtube-it's quite nice.

  • Well, I always envisioned the video with clips from the Poltergeist films. Considering the thematics of the song, it only seemed appropriate. Clips from TV shows and commericals just wouldn't have worked at all in my opinion. This tribute had a theme and I wanted to stay true to it.

  • What an awesome tribute to my little friend Heather. Only twelve short years on earth, but now she's immortal and forever young. Thank you for everything angleface! You were the most beautiful little lady on the planet. I can't express in words just how much we miss you kiddo. JayWolf1985, thank you so much for this wonderful tribute. I'm very touched. And do you know who else would be? Heather would. And I'm sure some how, some way, she knows about these wonderful tributes. Thanks again.
