Lehigh County Fire Radio dispatched companies 3, 13, and 2 to 3216 South 3rd Street for an unknown type fire AT 02:10AM. Whitehall Police arrive and report a working fire in a pile of fire wood stacked up against the rear of the house and extending into the eaves of the dwelling.
With that report from PD, Truck 6 (3631) and Rescue 8 (3641) are dispatched to fill-out the box for a working house fire.
Squirt 3 (3831) arrives and stretches two hand lines - one to the interior and a second to the rear yard using the side yard. Engine 2 (3712) brings water to the squirt using the hydrant at 3rd and Lehigh Streets.
The truckies from Fullerton go to the roof using ground ladders and open up two vent holes.
Engine 12 (3711) is used at the hydrant at 3rd and Lehigh while Engine 13 (3811) pulls in front of the house to back up the first-due engine.
Crews find minor extension into the attic. The bulk of the fire was darkened down in about 10 minutes. Firefighters remained on the scene for over two hours overhauling. The interior of the home suffered smoke damage.
An engine from the Egypt station was relocated to the Fullerton station.

Search for "Close Call Washington Twp. Lehigh County 2nd Alarm FIRE" for evidence of a fire in June 2011 that supports my concerns. There are so many similarities between these two videos, but fortunately the Washington Twp. firefighter had the benefit of full PPE and did not sustain any injuries. Imagine if he was wearing BDUs or went fully inside the attic without respiratory protection!

Wow, so many safety issues on this one. First, why was the white hat on the roof without turnouts and SCBA? Also, there was a possibility of fire in the attic and they are operating without a roof ladder! Next, donations and/or taxes paid about $5000 per SCBA and none of them were in use! Why are they needlessly sucking smoke? Also, if one of them was to fall into the attic, they would struggle to get their face piece on. Why aren't they protecting their airway and exposed facial skin?
