This vis my piano version of this once-very popular-tune. It started life in 1947 as a Portuguese fado about the city of Coimbra, but achieved international success in the early 1950s as 'April in Portugal' with English lyrics by Jimmy Kennedy, although it has often been recorded and performed in instrumental versions. Performers include Vic Damone, Louis Armstrong and Eartha Kitt - and many others of equivalent fame.

  • Mesmerized! Greetings from Singapore!

  • @zhenzx That's very kind - and greetings from a wet UK!

  • I was in Lisbon for a few hours a couple of years ago and managed to grab a few CD's of Fado. Coimbra is my preferred style. I wanted to return this year but chose Finland instead where I chose some wonderful Kantele recordings. And I met a lady who played Kantele for my wife and I in her flat in Helsinki. I like to follow your tags. I was surprised to see Armenian & Georgian tags - more wonderful music. I was in Tbilisi & Erivan 26 years ago; just to hear the music. I came home with 48 discs.

  • @tinkermanful I have been to all the countries you mention - except for Finland (I prefer hot countries!). You must have a fascinating record collections!

  • This is just so lovely. Beautiful accompaniment while I'm writing. Thank you!

  • @PSearPianist could you please send me that page? regards

  • @vasquestanjou Merci pour votre commentaire. Je n'ai pas mis mon propre arrangement par écrit, mais l'ai improvisé utilisant la mélodie et les accords d'un 'fake book'.
