This is the real McCoy! Built by AM General for the U.S. Army, this beast weighs 10,000 pounds, is partially amphibious, and has the creature comfort of air conditioning. The soldier pointed out the new underbody cladding that gives more protection against roadside bombs. That padding on the doors is just padding, not kevlar, but the windows are bulletproof.

  • these have the duramax 6.6 Turbo deisel in them.

  • @zanjani13 Thanks, Jon...I was trying to find out from the soldiers..but they weren't aware...I appreciate! :) Jack

  • @raconter1 you think they know what kind of engine was in these.

  • @zanjani13 Hey, Jon...I'm sure the guys in the motor pool would be very familiar with them...I think what you have in the Army today are so many specialties that a given soldier would have a lot of knowledge in a specific area, but limited knowledge in others. Thanks! :) Jack

  • Very cool! There is a local business that just opened recently.. They were testing it out at my local scoutcamp one afternoon. Once the ranger saw what was going on, it was downhill from there. Still, a very cool experience..

  • @Sarcasticscum Hey, Nathan! I can imagine one of these beasts in a camp, coming over a hill unexpectedly...it would scare the heck out of me! Best on a closed test circuit! Thanks! :) Jack
