RMFI has completed trail and restoration work in South Colony Lake Basin in the Sangre de Cristo Wilderness Area for over 15 years. This area is a prototype for how high elevation wilderness areas can be cared and managed. RMFI's innovative tram system is used to transport rocks on steep slopes.

  • This is a beautiful area and I commend the RMFI for there continued dedication to wilderness maintenance. I have personally been on the trails shown in this video when I summited Humboldt in 2010. It was my first backpacking trip and my second 14er. I love the Rocky Mountains!
