Red Kneck version of DeClawing a cat

Our kitten has the continuous need to sharpen his claws on of our furniture. While we wait for his appointment to be declawed I decided to give him a temporary Red Kneck version of declawing. It doesn't hurt him, so don't send me any messages about being cruel to animals.

Good for you. So many morons on the internet. I got my cat declawed and she will be strictly indoors because of it and will live a much longer life disease and injury from fights free life. She has healed very quickly. Sorry to see so many hate problems. I have no prob with people opinions but why do they all gotta be dicks about it?

THANK YOU! Finally someone who has some sense. What kills me is that all I did was put my infants socks on the cat and then put a small piece of tape around the sock and took video because it was so funny to us. The cat never even lost a piece of hair and I never ended up having his claws taken out yet according to half these people I should be dammed to hell. I say get a life if you have nothing better to do then JUDGE. Thanks again!

Declawing is illegal in most civilised countries because it causes unnecessary pain and discomfort, which is often permanent.

Stick with the socks, don't get your cat declawed if you have any love for him. Would you get your child's fingernails removed?

That is a funny solution to your cat clawing furniture. My cat ruined our red leather couches by running up and down it all the time at full speed. But I didn't get him declawed until he almost scratched my handicapped son's eyes out (he had been scratching and biting my son non-stop for a while, but that was the last straw). My son had no defenses and the cat just came up and scratched him and ran away. He didnt stop biting so we got a second cat. That fixed the problems. :)

@turbotouch02 that's good you didn't have your cat declawed in the end. It is a bit childish sticking socks on it's feet, but it's over now worse things have happened people should chill out

@SuperMrChameleon First of all, cats walk on their toes, and getting "de-clawed" is acctually have ing the last digit of their toe is removed. Cats walk on these parts of their toes when a declawed cat walks, its like walking on your heels for the rest of your life. Claws are needed for grooming, how would they remove exces hair on their head or ears? Next time you get itchy, don't scratch it that is just one of the THOUSANDS of pain they go through. Imagine scratching sand with nubs. btw im 13

I had a cat that scratched every piece of furniture-- I bought some $10 corrugated cardboard cat thingies at PetSmart and placed them around, especially near furniture. I couldn't believe how well it worked. She just prefers that kind of surface to the furniture now. I've caught her making the very occasional mistake, but I moved her to the cardboard and she completed her claw ritual there.

@turbotouch02 people today have become very strange; they wouldnt have a problem getting an abortion or passing by a dieng homeless man without sparing some change but when the smallest, and i really mean the tiniest most insignificant thing happens to inconvinience an animal it becomes a condemned crime. i love animals, but i love people more. i would let 1000 cats die to give some starving people in africa another day on this earth. if there is a hell, theyll find themselves ther alot quicker.

@turbotouch02 I completely agree! I am currently looking into defingering my kids too, their grubby little hands are ruining my precious furniture. Any idea where I can do this?

I was so happy to read he's only wearing socks on the video though he didn't seem to like them. At least they don't hurt him or cause any damage.

Declawing is illegal here, and so may it be. A cat needs its claws. I grew up with cats and don't remember them causing any damage - our dogs chewed so many things cats may have been forgotten. I used to clip their claws so they do'nt feel so bad when the cats jump on me. They're all indoor cats and the first, now late cat had a scratching post.
