The original ident was aired in the mid 70's.

The reason for this video saying celebrating 40 years was because it was aired in 1996 NOT in the mid 70's.

if nine bought the rights to life on mars either the BBC original or more likely to make their own version using the original scripts this dancing dot version would be used at the start of each episode
