"Read"

A source of biological life
An ecological niche
Deceased to make the books that we read
Yet see how the mighty oak grows from the smallest of seeds

You ever thought about the words that couldn't be ignored?
The first words revealed were
"Iqra bismi rabbik al-ladhi!"
To read in the name of our Lord
For this deen was not spread by the sword

But the bliss that was found in the pages of knowledge
Only through the Beloved could we comprehend the message
Who read without being able to read
Hearts fragranced clean from the stench of greed
How many knew a Muslim woman built the world's first university?

I'm here to revive "Iqra bismi rabbik al-ladhi",
To read in the name of our Lord
By which even our Holy Book requires the removal of trees
Our Prophet never killed an ant, and so it seems
Our Lord ordered us to sustain and not to destroy
So lets revive "Iqra bismi rabbik al-ladhi"
One day at a time
By planting a seed.
