Flintstones Cigarette Commercial

This old tv commercial is totally unbelievable! In the Flintstones' first season on ABC, the original sponsor was Winston Cigarettes. If they tried this today they would have a riot on their hands!

Though shocking now, this is really no different than what we have today. What one has to keep in mind is the target audience. The Flintstones' target audience was not intended to be exclusively children. At it's launch, it was to be a prime time sitcom that would appeal to the entire family. This commercial reflects the adult portion of their demographics.
