It doesn't look as grand in scale... which is unfortunate... if I ever get the chance to watch it I will, but I'm terrified of being let down. The Secret Garden was a staple of my childhood movies... I'm 18 now and I'm trying to find a dvd of the original and I found this and I had never heard of it before.

@Lamica00 I think Mary and Dickon are the yin/yang soulmates, they are more healthier for each other, because they are different, and it's a more romantic partnership with them. With Mary and Colin, it's more of a best friend relationship. Ever seen Twilight? Well, Bella at one point said that she wished she could claim Jacob as a brother, because she loved him and wanted to keep him, and yet she still wanted to be with Edward. I think if Dickon was still alive, she would be with him.

@Lamica00 Totally agree. It's like ... when two people meet each other, who are like twins, they share the same thoughts, same feelings, and it's often that those two souls are drawn to each other, because it's like they are the same person ... they are attracted to the part of themself that is in that person. But at the same time, there is that other soul who is different from you, but they complete you in a sort of yin meets yang way. So, in a sense, some people have two soul mates.

@JG16riffin I've always though Mary was perfect for Dickon, I don't like her with Collin.

And I've always had the feeling that there was some sort of, I don't know, connection between Dickon and Mary, too bad that it wasn't kept in this movie...

But anyway, marriage between cousins was very normal at those ages, so it's not that hard to understand.

1993 one was THE BEST! I liked it when it was strictly British! No offence to Americans! And at the end of the 93 movie Lord Craven promised the garden won't go to waste again! This movie isn't as charming because by the end the garden is no longer a secret...

@animefangirl455 Except, apparently, Dickon died ... I watched the film, it's quite good. But I have to admit, I love the first one better. For me, the fact that Colin marries Mary does kinda make sense, though it' i rather insestuous lol :S Mind you, I guess it's no different to what people did in the old days, to keep their family line going and I suppose that Mary and Colin make a good partnership, coz they have so much in common. Nevertheless, I agree that Dickon's more her romantic soulmate
