Thanks for posting this! Haven't seen this intro in a long time. 1988 was a frustrating year for Mets fans. On paper, they were a much better team than the Dodgers but LA had their mojo that year.

BTW, how cool is that song? I dig the Organ and that Sax!

1988, When the Mets were the METS, instead of the M.E.T.S.

You never see baseball diamonds look like THAT anymore.

The first season that I watched baseball. I was disapointed when they lost to the dodgers in the 88 championshiop. But that Gibson home run came in the first world series game I ever watched. I was hooked after that. I was 10-11 during this time..

@Sportbuff99TV I have the game on DVD, just not the opening lol.

find some more videos from 1988

A time in which Mets fans (like myself) would anticipate great hitting and superb pitching. Now, the Metropolitans are mediocre. Damn Wilpons!!
By this point it would have been WWOR (check your description).

@raymieX You would be correct. I didn't realize it changed in 1987. Thanks for the info!

@radiodj1520 I checked baseball reference, and you are indeed correct! The Mets won the game 3-2. Ironically, I was at the Saturday and Sunday games of the series. The Mets won both to sweep. Barry Bonds hit a monster HR on Saturday that remains one of the most powerful I've ever seen. Sunday was Pirates backpack day, sponsored by Oxydol and Dawn dishwashing detergent. It was also my first and last trips to Three Rivers Stadium before they blew it up.
