A lot of guys who had the 6-Pak motor removed the 3-carb set-up and went with 1 large 4-BBL.....Easier to keep in tune and still very high in gas/air volume...The Trans-Am motors had one large 4-BBL and put out about 400 HP.

I bought a T/A Challenger years ago.....It smoked a little and needed a motor re-build but I never got around to doing it...My heart sunk to my feet when an expert Mopar mechanic told me I had a 360 block instead of the 5-bolt main bearing 340 block...I still had fun with the car and I blew the doors off many other muscle cars in my town.....MOPAR OR NO CAR !!!

The heads on a 340 are used on a 360 they're the same casting. The T/A heads are the same heads with offset pushrod holes to increase port size. 318 and 340 have same crank essentially.

a 340 is small stroke big bore a 360 is small bore big strke the motors are prety difrent and a 318 is basicly is big bore 273

A 340 is just that..it is a 340. They are all small blocks up to 360. Different years different Cranks. Just like a honda 1.3 1.4 1.5 1.6 they all have different cranks

hello i know little about the 340 are they an oversized 318 or an under sized 360 ??? are the carby 's 400cfm 350cfm 400cfm holly ?? the 350 is the main one ??

Factory under-rated for insurance reasons @ 290 h.p. These cars were built to qualify chrysler for the trans-am racing of the time.
