Who's to judge? I'm not going to condemn anyone...but I will judge for myself--and working away from the home AFTER I have made the decision to bring little children into the world would be absolutely selfish!
I would rather live in a tent--and stay at home with my kids...With two parents in the home who are capable of working---there is no need for anyone to send their kids to daycare....move into a smaller house---do it for your kids. It's only 18 years of your life!

are you kidding me?
Mainstream Media constantly portrays working moms as 'modern' women...as if stay-at-home moms are all cave-women incapable of adapting.
By focusing on extreme cases that are easy to dismiss--they are able to avoid the REAL issue that causes them such shame: selfishness.
Whew, it's good to hear that only the first 11 years of a daycare child's life is problematic! Nevermind what kind of havoc 'recovered' 11-year-old are susceptible to at home without parental guidance.

I lived in Europe for the past couple of years and there was nothing like this there! They would actually make fun of the US media...

I have tried to leave a comment twice. What's wrong? Anyway, I have two little boys -- one 4 and one 6 -- and I am lucky enough to be a teacher ... so I spend my days with the little one ... I get to pick up my older boy at the bus, too. But my parents have been so upset all week by these news reports! Thank you for clearing it up Kate!

This reminds me of how I would cheat in school and just copy whoever seemed like they knew what was going on.
Have you ever worn the same clothes twice?
