And incidently (finishing what I'm saying), I just finished writing a novel in which the female lead character gets this 1966 Zenith color TV for Christmas from her mother! It is set in that time.
This was from 1966 (nice try, supremes1964 and drh4683). I love that TV with the back ralling! What made it unique was the fact that it was the first console with the flat legs and square screen. According to the Zenith brochure and advertisements, the only one in this type from that year (it was called "The Stockbridge" while the wide-legged sets were called "The Andover", "The Loyola", "The Manchester", "The Venice", and "The Nordberg"). This TV came with the "Space Command" remote control!
When my uncle died. One of the coolest things I ever got was his Zenith Space Command TV. I bought a Zenith DTT 900 digital TV converter. I can still watch a great test pattern every sunday night since most TV today isn't worth watching. ;)
I also heard they were one of the last electronics makes in the states to finally outsource all they're manufacturing. Sad. Are we ever going to produce stuff like this again? Probably never again. Surprisingly, Brother actually does some of they're stuff over here too.
Great commercial. Based on the TV models shown, this commercial would be from 1965. Back when Zenith made a product that nobody in the world could match. They were without a doubt the best.

They were VERY expensive.... this model $465 or higher in 1965. Min wage was $1.00-1.25 an hour lol
