An RAF Royal Air Force Red Arrows Hauk aircraft emergency landing at Blackpool International Airport after the Blackpool Airshow on the prom of the resort.

At the end of the red arrows disply on the sea front on hawk left the other and landed at Blackpool, at first I thought the red arrows were all coming in to Blackpool. It was clear it was an emergency landing when the aircraft stopped on the runway and shut its engines down, also the fact the fire service was also on hand to help.

This cause the runway to be closed, and a Jet2.com Boeing 737-300 airraft waiting to land over Blackpool

  • Hi it was RED 4 that crashed at Bournmouth, the one here at Blackpool was RED 7 i have it on sound tape recording, one engine was taken out by a bird strike. Hope this helps.

  • you should see this one as well "Red Arrow avoids alien on runway"

  • That day they were based at Hawarden airfield just west of Chester where I live. We heard over air traffic that two had been taken out. 1) the one pictured here had a bird strike and 2) Another had a hydrolic failure and had an emergency landing at Liverpool.

  • @queball147 Red 4 crashed 13 days later on the 20th :)

  • Sorry just to confirm Red 7 had a bird strike and had to land at blackpool in a emergency.

  • @queball147 a HawkT1 is a single engine aircraft, So i believe that you may be wrong

  • Queball ... a Hawk only has one engine.

  • Red 4 was XX308.

  • Deepest Sympathys to his wife family and friends at this very sad time. Its so sad to think he flew over my house only a couple of weeks ago at the southport airshow, if you have a scanner radio you can hear the guys in flight.
