That day they were based at Hawarden airfield just west of Chester where I live. We heard over air traffic that two had been taken out. 1) the one pictured here had a bird strike and 2) Another had a hydrolic failure and had an emergency landing at Liverpool.

Sorry just to confirm Red 7 had a bird strike and had to land at blackpool in a emergency.

@queball147 a HawkT1 is a single engine aircraft, So i believe that you may be wrong

Deepest Sympathys to his wife family and friends at this very sad time. Its so sad to think he flew over my house only a couple of weeks ago at the southport airshow, if you have a scanner radio you can hear the guys in flight.
Hi it was RED 4 that crashed at Bournmouth, the one here at Blackpool was RED 7 i have it on sound tape recording, one engine was taken out by a bird strike. Hope this helps.
