This slideshow honors one of America's finest presidents, Ronald Reagan, on his final journey. It also serves as a tribute to the late president's wife, first lady Nancy Reagan, for she stood by the side of her husband for many years, and has done much for America.

Beginning in Santa Monica, California, Reagan's body was transported to the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, and later Washington, DC where it was taken by caisson to the US Capitol and lay in state for 34 hours. A National Funeral Service was conducted in the Washington National Cathedral on June 11, and the week-long events culminated with a memorial service and interment back at the Reagan Library.

During his presidency, Reagan implemented bold new ideas, such as his economic policies, dubbed "Reaganomics". His summit conferences with Mikhail Gorbachev contributed to the end of the Cold War and fall of the Soviet Union, and he is credited for restoring America's confidence after a period of national malaise. He was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in 1994, and died ten years later on June 5. Nancy Reagan continues to promote the president's legacy.

  • I'm reading the liberals on this thread bashing Ronald Reagan. But, if you ask any of them when was Ronald Reagan president? They have no idea.

  • Yeah,he so loved all of his citizens he chose to abandon his own son when his son announced he was gay.And where was the budget for HIV/AIDS research when he was president? He,like his 'ally',Margaret Thatcher saw AIDS as a perfect way to get rid of thousands of gays,'cause they didn't count.Sure,he was such a 'loving' president, pah!

  • @Zaxxen69 Democrats have been in control of the countrys credit card far longer then the Republicans .Hell the last 2 years of Reagan's presidency the Dems had complete control of Congress and kept it till 1994.Reagan brought this country back from the brink of disaster (thank Carter for fucking us over) and still holds the record of 49 states out of 50 won to win reelection. Reagan IS the best President of the last 100 years and i would rank in in the top 3.

  • @ranger082469

I was also a teenager while Reagan was a president
