Here's a short video of some Hourdini movement. Houdini is our new California Kingsnake who we rescued from the local shelter. He's had a rough life, everything from being fed tohandled wrong in the passed as well as medical treatment on top of being surrendered by the previous owner in very bad shape. So he has come along way! And although, his profile wasn't made out to be the friendliest guy, I still think he is a sweetheart!

So, yeah, the video shows him exploring a new branch. And yes, if my hand wasn't there he'da definetely taken the opportunity to free-roam my room as he has done twice before. They don't call him Houdini for nothing! He's been grumpy this passed day or two but he goes from PMSing to curious george explorer monkey in no time when we give him somehting new! No wonder he likes being loose in my room...

Oh yeah the video also features Sh0ck's cat yelling at the door to get in because she knew sh0ck was in there.. recording the vid. =) Enjoy

  • is that a red "night light" for the snake so you can see him a night?

  • A red heatlamp, but yes it stays on all night.. Not really for the reason of watching him at night though, more so because he requires it :P

  • Lampropeltis getula california requires a daylight temperature of 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit) to 32 degrees Celsius (89.6 degrees Fahrenheit) in one side of the tank - and about 25 degrees Celsius (77 degrees Fahrenheit) in the other. At night the temparature has to be dropped to around 28 degrees Celsius (82.4 degrees Fahrenheit). You should use a heat mat instead of a heat lamp...

  • yay Houdini!
