This testimonial is from a couple who went through the entire store development process for their own independent dollar store through Dollar Store Services.

Once your lease is signed, Dollar Store Services' Operations Manager will be in constant contact with you. Together, we will coordinate the pre-build-out process, ensuring that all permits and licenses required have been addressed, and follow through with landlords and contractors to make sure that the store space is ready as quickly as possible.

Members of the Operations Staff will work with you on the sourcing and design of your exterior signage, and later will coordinate the timely arrival of your opening orders; merchandise, equipment, and supplies.

Once the store space is ready, we send one of our Build-out Supervisors to the store site who will coordinate the build-out crew in the assembly and installation of fixtures, and the stocking of all merchandise. JW Imports, a wholesale company, will assign a representative to work with you as well to keep your dollar store stocked with the hot new items that will keep your customers coming back every day. They will provide detailed information regarding over 70 suppliers, including discounted pricing, freight concessions, and special promotions. A representative will also work with you on securing seasonal merchandise and assist you in selecting suppliers that can provide you, based on your geographical location, the most cost-effective purchasing opportunities.

Your Wholesale Representative will contact you on a regular basis, and provide you with the weekly newsletter. The "Dollars & Sense" newsletter is full of information on exciting new merchandise as soon as it becomes available, and discusses topics such as how to get ready for upcoming holidays, tips from other retailers, and much, much more. You may have retail and management experience, or have owned businesses previously. If you don't have that kind of experience we make up for that with our comprehensive training. Customized, thorough training is available through Manuals, workbooks, and other materials. We use these learning materials to guide you through the operational aspects of running a retail business. This training typically begins several weeks prior to the build-out, and includes follow up training support once the store has opened.

At the end of the first 30 days of your business, Dollar Store Services, Inc. offers to perform a formal review of the store. You can submit a video of the entire store; we review the video in conjunction with the daily sales records, purchasing log, advertising history, payroll information, and the first month's Profit and Loss Statement. Our Senior Management Staff participates in this 30-day review in an effort to confirm your understanding the workings of your business and are headed in the right direction. Additionally, at this same time, we will provide you with a form and ask you to grade our performance in the many areas involved in the setting up of your new store; we welcome your suggestions!
