Celebrating now over 50 years of Motown music with one of the signature songs for Martha & The Vandellas, "Nowhere To Run". This Top 10 tune from March of 1965 was written by the legendary Motown songwriting team of Holland, Dozier, & Holland with instrumentation provided by the famed Funk Brothers.

  • we would play Nowhere to Run daily substituting "charlie" for baby..

I heard that the outnumbered Marines (4 to 1) played this at the battle of Khe Sanh.

  • THE WARRIORS AND GOOD MORNING VIETNAM.

  • A-MAY-ZING!!!!! not one song that aint good - my daughter is just ten and she cant get enuf!!!! wonder if thats cause my partner played motown music thru her belly when she was pregnant cause my girl dont like nothin else......

  • Many thanks to you for posting such a high quality copy. Excellent !!

  • @jenzeppelin Indeed. The Motown sound was ringing loudly, from what I have been personally told, with the GIs in Vietnam. Many have told me that when they had down time and heard songs like this they really felt a connection to home.

  • What always fascinated me about this, one of Motown's greatest songs ever, is that it's not only tough, exciting, and ominous-sounding, it's that Martha Reeves' lady at the center of the story is trying to find a positive justification for a relationship with a man with a questionable nature while spelling out her paranoia about him at the same time. Holland-Dozier-Holland were smart songwriters indeed, as this song spoke of a form of co-dependency long before that term became fashionable.

  • LUF IT !!!

  • Great! Thanks!

  • Powerful song...I read a comment on YouTube somewhere in which the commenter described having this song playing in his head while they would attack when he was serving during the Vietnam war...the image of a soldier singing this in his head in those conditions will never leave me now. Haunting as hell.
