@MatKiller1197 And the voicing knob can bring you from a muddy Marshall-like tone, into a more tight modern Mesa and Peavey-esque tone. Hope I could help you out! I know it's hard to pick haha, I've debated on amps for years before actually buying one.

@MatKiller1197 However, if you are still concerned over gain, I'd suggest a good overdrive pedal. Perhaps a Boss OD-3 or SD-1 Super Overdrive? On the other side of the coin, there's the Blackstar. These low wattage tube amps are fantastic. If you don't need TOO much volume and you aren't playing out, these work very well. For Blackstar, out of the two, I'd recommend the five watt version with a Tube Screamer to tighten up the tone a bit. These amps have a very cool voicing knob.

@MatKiller1197 Okay, so if you want to play metal with this amp, you probably won't like it using the Stratocaster. However, I've read up on the Ducan Distortion. It is a high-output, four-conductor pickup, which is good for metal music. Personally, if you plan to use this amp for metal, I suggest using high-output pickups. When I owned this Randall, I used a Les Paul with DiMarzio D Activator-X pickups and was easily able to achieve metal tones.

@MatKiller1197 What kind of guitar do you use? What kind of pickups (be specific)? How much volume do you need? I've played through both this Randall and those two Blackstar amps.
