The Make Poverty History campaign asked all the leaders of the political parties what they would do about poverty, in Canada, among First Nations and overseas. All the leaders, except Stephen Harper, answered the five questions.

  • Rule of law needed to fight global poverty: UN legal commission!

    Four billion people around the world are robbed of the chance to better their lives and climb out of poverty, because they are excluded from the rule of law. Whether living below or slightly above the poverty line, these men, women, and children lack the protections and rights afforded by the law.

    Today we are calling upon the federal government to support the "United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.

    One thing I have noticed is that there is NOTHING on the table about:

    Unemployment

    Housing

    Minimum Wage increases

    Improved healthcare

    Where are these common Canadian concerns?
