  • The beginning was relevant. She was on a mountain being a midwife, and then it was erased. Later in the episode, she is looking at a picture of a mountain, and asks what her name is, is told it is toffee, and she says "When I'm there, I have a different name." It shows she retained a little bit of memory information from that experience.

  • Wow I have no idea how I missed that. I remember the mountain picture though because it was a big part of the episode. I must have gotten distracted for a minute. I still do not get how being a midwife makes any sort of sense but oh well.

  • She has the presence to carry the show and I do enjoy watching her (as I said I am really impressed with her performance as tabula rasa Echo) I just think this particular job is a bit over her head. But I still really like Eliza a lot.

  • Yes some of the work that Eliza is capable of has really impressed me. I definitely think she can act. I just personally do not see her having the range to pull something like this off but as I said I think few could. There are just a lot of scenes for me that I can tell she is acting and I recognize the same mannerisms between characters a lot of the time. But its just personal taste I guess.

  • i think a good reason for the midwife thing is that a couple needs to keep the birth of a child secret, hence the mountain so they need a midwife/sherpa

    ps

i agree that crazy guy hunting echo is awsome

  • As for your comments regarding Eliza's performance, I have to completely disagree. I think she is one of the strongest actresses on TV - and has been since season one of Angel; the scene where she is begging angel to kill her still gives me chills! From that point onward, I think Eliza has earned her salt as a "leading lady". Her performance as Echo in ep. 4 left me breathless and wanting more, and I see some very interesting dilemmas arising for both her character and for the audience later on.

  • With DH, however, I find myself already "hooked" because I find the primes so darn interesting that I can feed off of that until the characters are better fleshed out.

  • My roommate had to force me to watch Buffy, and even then, it took me nearly half way into season 2 before I was "hooked". (The same goes for Firefly - it took me about six eps. in before I was hooked) As in real life, you don't form close bonds with people until after you get to know them - then the bond becomes inseparable.
