Message Personnel in English! I had no idea this version even existed. On one side of the 45 there is the French version.. flip it over and there is the English version...what a brilliant idea!..I have been told that this is a rare and valuable pressing .. This is an interesting rendition. I was not sure if it would work in English. The "speaking (intro)" part does for sure. The French version of the singing is the best, but I really like the intro in English better. There are a few bumps in the 45 single, but it does not sound too bad for its age. Ms Hardy's French accent is charming as always.
-----------------LYRICS--------------------
1973 (Paroles anglaises:- Françoise Hardy/Michel Berger)
-------------------------------------------
at the end of the line is the sound of your voice
and the words that I can't that I never shall say
those words that people fear when they don't make them laugh
that have been too often in books, songs and movies
words I'd like to tell you and words I'd like to live
words I never shall say : I want to, I just can't

I'm so lonesome I could die and I know where you are
I'm coming, wait for me, I know you, you know me
Will you spare me some time 'cause I'll give you all mine

I'd like to come to you, but I always stay
I never come to you : I want to, I just can't
I ought to speak to you, I ought to be with you
or at least try to sleep

I'm afraid you'll be deaf, I'm afraid you'll escape
afraid I'm too forward and I never shall say
that I've fallen for you

but if you think you could love me tomorrow
don't be afraid of memories and sorrow
we'll flee the past where we can leave tomorrow
come and rescue me

if you think you could love me tomorrow
don't be afraid if the path looks narrow
between the past and the life tomorrow
come and rescue me

if you're fed up with your life
and find no way
when every day is just another yesterday
think of me, think of me

but if you think you could love me tomorrow
don't wait a day, don't waste a time you can't know
where will your life lead from here tomorrow
come and rescue me

if you think you could love me tomorrow
run, take my hand, and where you go I'll follow
I need a sign so I can let my love show
come and rescue me

if you're fed up with your life
and find no way
when every day is just another yesterday
think of me, think of me

but if you...

  • Is it me, or did Billy Joel base his sound off of this one song? lol

  • quivering and so charming french accent. ONe if the most beautiful french lady... timeless elegant.

  • There must be a million men out there that would love to marry this woman.

  • FRIENDS On that silent, train of thought Not a soul in sight, nor a ticket bought Just the wheels turning, on a lonely track You can search within, but you can’t turn back Each parallel line, with a million sleepers Beside each track, a million creepers Overhead cables, wheels on wire Each train of thought, reaching higher and higher Above a forest maze, to a mountain top Beside rivers and streams, there’s each snow drop
  • Forget-me-nots train, each colour of thought

What we feel within, just can’t be bought

Parallel lines, on a familiar track

I love you just the same, when I look back

  • I agree. The spoken part is so incredibly well-done (esp for a native Francophone ;-) ). But the singing part sounds awkward in English. That's not Mme Hardy's fault though. lol I love Francoise and her music <3

  • wow... I've had the album Message Personnel since about 1974, never knew there was an English version either... great stuff!! Thanks!

  • J'adore merci :-)
