Maude Barlow is the national chairperson of The Council of Canadians, Canada's largest citizens' advocacy organization with members and chapters across Canada. Maude Barlow is also the co-founder of the Blue Planet Project which works to stop commodification of the world's water. She serves on the boards of the International Forum on Globalization and Food and Water Watch and is a councilor with the Hamburg-based World Future Council. In addition to being nominated for the "1000 Women for the Nobel Peace Prize 2005" she is a recipient of the "2005/2006 Lannan Cultural Freedom Fellowship" and the "2005 Right Livelihood Award". She is the best selling author or co-author of 16 books, including Too Close For Comfort: Canada's Future Within Fortress North America; and Blue Gold: The Fight to Stop Corporate Theft of the World's Water (with Tony Clarke), now published in 47 countries.

Once whale oil was running out. The switch to kerosene & the genius of the fossil fuel industry greatly enhanced human life, & took pressure off whales. ~7 trillion bbls of oil deposits occur in & about USA, blocked ONLY by enviros —who block oil's cleaner, safer replacement: nuclear energy too —not thru stupidity, thru Man hatred.

Money symbolizes valued work, to trade for other values. If one lies using English we do not throw out English. If some misuse money to gain false values, why discard money??

Such utter nonsense should be laughed away & ignored. Water has never been free... always men ,have had to find it, walk to it, purify it, drill wells for it, test for its choliform bacteria, chlorinate it, filter it, micro- filter it, desalinate it, transport it tens or hundreds of kilometers

More insanely, water used in manufacturing *returns to the hydrologic cycle, and can be used again.

Barlow is nuts, out of her mind, ridiculous, but then so was/is Al Gore, David Suzuki, et al.

I got news for you, it's too late, the cycle has started that will end the earths environment due to over-population no matter what we do now.The nukes will fly eventually, probably China and India I am not sure yet, but the nukes will fly. SORRY
