A 5 am Monday morning sign-off clip that's preceded by a network promo with clips from shows they were airing then, including Life Goes On, Bonanza, Remington Steele, and Rin-Tin-Tin, K-9 Cop. Pat Robertson's network was known originally as the CBN Cable Network, which aired a lot of religious shows at first, but gradually became more entertainment-oriented. The "CBN" portion of the Family Channel name was dropped in 1990 as the network became a separate entity from Robertson's Christian Broadcasting Network (producers of The 700 Club) in order to protect CBN's tax-exempt status. Robertson sold his Family Channel to Fox in 1998, which in turn sold it to ABC-Disney in 2001.

  • The Family Channel and Fox Family were good times

That is until the ABC buy out that destroyed the channel!

  • Actually "Life Goes On" didn't premiere on TV until September 1989. I'm thinking you're referring to "Our House".

  • I remember when CBN became The Family Channel and there were GOOD Programs on there from Big Brother Jake, Maniac Mansion, That's My Dog, The NEW Original Amateur Hour, The Black Stallion, The NEW Zorro, Bordertown, Rin Tin Tin K-9 Cop The NEW Shop 'til You Drop, Shopping Spree, Wait 'til You Have Kids, Masters of the Maze, Maximum Overdrive, Trivial Pursuit as well as classics like Bonanza, Wagon Train, Our House, The Waltons, The Young Riders, Scarecrow & Mrs. King and of course Batman

  • @Kitsuneranger And prior to The Family Channel, it was CBN throughout most of the 80s. Those were great times as well.

  • Right, I remember (before ABC brought it out) they had good shows like Rin-Tin-Tin K9 cop, the Black Stallion, Hardcastle and McCormic, etc.
