Offshore Oil drilling is a major issue in our political debate especially in this 2008 Presidential race with John McCain pushing for the lift of the ban. Americans Solutions (NGO) is also pushing to lift the ban with over 1.5 million American signatures in a petition to the US Congress.

I would like to ask you, who do you think makes the most profit, from American Oil Companies? The US FEDERAL GOVERNMENT! While they don't put one dime into exploration, development, or distribution, they make 48 cents, while the "Big Oil" companies make 18 cents.

Oil companies will do what any other company does, Lungyao. They will produce a product and sell it. If they have more, the price will go down. If we tax them more or prevent them from getting the same oil that China and Russia are already getting, then the price will go up!

"Dril here. Drill now". Yeah, great idea. Wanna talk about "reality-ville"? Drilling more holes in the ground in the U.S. won't add significantly to the world oil market and it is from THAT MARKET that the crude, that eventually ends up as gas in your tank, is purchased. So the Gulf of Mexico has been sacrificed, killed outright, for what is literally a drop in the bucket that is the world's oil supply.
